Summer 2007 Workshops

Classes ran from 9:00am - 4:00pm each day for three days, with a one-hour break each day for lunch (provided in the Sweet Briar College cafeteria). Teachers worked on understanding fundamental math and science concepts as related to Virginia SOLs for grades 3-8. The three-day workshops included class discussions as well as hands-on and inquiry-related classroom activities appropriate for these grades. Course enrollment was limited to 16 teachers.

Teacher-participants received 1 graduate credit per course completed. Their tuition was free (paid for by a grant from SCHEV). They also received a $180 stipend and were provided materials and supplies for doing hands-on science in their classrooms.
